DUBA, UAE - Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Thursday met with ambassadors and heads of Arab diplomatic missions in Baghdad, where he highlighted Iraq’s role in supporting Arab cooperation, development, and economic partnership.
During the meeting, Sudani spoke about Iraq’s progress in infrastructure and major projects, attributing the growth to the country’s stable security situation and the government’s efforts to solve internal problems through legal and constitutional means, according to a statement from his office.
On regional issues, he called on the international community to stop what he described as “genocide” in Gaza, and to address repeated violations of ceasefires and attacks on Lebanon, underlining Iraq’s strong support for the Palestinian cause.
The Iraqi premier said that the country is committed to Arab unity and that the proposals it made during the recent Arab League Summit in Baghdad will help strengthen Arab cooperation and sustainable development.
Sudani also spoke about Iraq’s role in helping ease tensions between Iran and the United States. He said Iraq supports fair and balanced talks, and warned that more conflict will not lead to a solution.
The Arab ambassadors praised Iraq’s positions on regional and international matters, according to the statement, praising Baghdad’s leadership at the recent summit.
The ambassadors also welcomed efforts to reform the Arab League, saying they could help bring more unity and stability to the region.
