ERBIL, Kurdistan Region, Iraq - The Iranian parliament voted on a bill in a plenary session on Wednesday to suspend cooperation between Tehran and the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, according to state media.
According to the bill, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors will not be allowed to visit Iran, and submitting reports to the agency will be halted as long as the security of Iran’s nuclear facilities is ensured, following a 12-day air campaign in which the US joined Israel in striking the country’s nuclear sites.
"The International Atomic Energy Agency, which refused to even mildly condemn the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, has put its international credibility up for sale," Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said, according to state TV.
Ghalibaf stated that cooperation with the IAEA will be "until the security of the nuclear facilities is guaranteed.”
As soon as the war started, Iranian officials strongly criticized the IAEA for failing to condemn Israel and the US for attacking the country's nuclear facilities.
