DUBAI, UAE - Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council Chief Faiq Zidan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Foreign Office on Wednesday to support judicial cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
A statement from the Supreme Judicial Council said that Zidan “visited the British Foreign Office today, Wednesday.”
During the visit, Zidan signed the agreement in the presence of UK Minister of State for the Middle East Hamish Falconer, Director of the Middle East Department Stephen Hickey, and Iraq’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Jaafar al-Sadr, the statement said.
Zidan traveled to London, the capital of England, on an official visit aimed at signing several memorandums of understanding.
In late November, the British government announced reaching a “world-first” security agreement with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, aimed at combating irregular migration and other border security concerns.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer outlined key agreements across multiple sectors, including security, economic reforms, migration, education, and climate cooperation during a landmark visit of Iraqi PM Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani to London in January.
